Backed by the Taurus Mountain range, Çalış Beach is a peaceful spot right next to Fethiye. It’s just a 10-minute drive to the centre of its lively neighbour, but the promenade is more laidback here – it’s the hub of the town and where you’ll find the best shops, bars and restaurants. The sand-and-shingle beach is a top spot for catching the impressive sunsets you get around here.
At Calis Beach, you get a four-kilometre stretch of dark sand and shingle. Windsurfing and kite-surfing are the big draws on the water sports front, while children can enjoy the Aqua City waterpark five minutes’ walk away. Another option, a 20-minute walk away, is secluded Calis Koca. It comes with five kilometres of sand and A-list appeal – it was used as a location in the Bond movie, Skyfall.
Calis Beach flies under the radar when it comes to nightlife. Quiet bars and restaurants attract families and couples who come here to dine and watch the sunset from seafront venues. A 10-minute drive gets you to the centre of Fethiye, where there are coastal nightclubs that play a mix of Turkish and British music ’til 5am. There are more elegant bars in the hills behind Fethiye, about 15 minutes’ drive from Calis Beach.
